Facilities

We've worked hard to make Rock and River the special learning center that it is. By blending state of the art instructional facilities with an authentic 1800's homestead, we've created a unique environment, one that makes the learning process relaxed and more enjoyable.

While the various Adirondack cliffs, mountains and lakes serve as our true teaching facilities, we've found it advantageous to supplement these with our own manmade structures. Our thirty foot high indoor rock chimney is made of stone and is complete with cracks and ledges - ideal for rainy day instruction of all our sessions, beginning through advanced.

Early in December our forty foot high outdoor ice wall begins taking shape. This structure is mostly used during our International Mountainfest and comes complete with numerous ice lines, a fire ring, viewing benches and even night lights.

Downstairs in the Guide's House is where our gear room, central teaching room, museum, pictorial display, and library/video room is located, while just upstairs our dining room doubles as a slide show/lecture center (seats 100), used by professional climbers when touring through the region.

We're proud of the complete outdoor center we've become, so if you're in the neighborhood, please stop by and check us out - just seeing our artificial walls alone is worth the visit!
