WARNING - Please read: Ice climbing is truly a dangerous activity. Care and judgment born out of experience are imperative. Weather and ice conditions change hourly and what may appear to be "good conditions" to one climber may not be so to another. Please remember that just because a conditions report says that a particular climb is "in", each individual is ultimately responsible for making his/her own climbing decisions.
GENERAL SCENE - 2/7/10 The next 5 days are predicted to be sunny and in the low to mid 20s! While we could use some snow, the sun always makes the climbing a little more fun - especially in the woods...Just heard that Positive Thinking is in - the first pitch is fat enough to actually protect! Get it while it lasts! Also got a report from a climber that did the South Face of Gothics. A long, thin streak of ice that comes down the middle of the low angled face (similar to Chapel Pond Slab but a little steeper) was climbed this past Monday. A great, wild desolate place to be - very alpine! Should be on anyones list that truly likes the wilder Adirondack climbs! I've attached some photos a friend took of our park during the Mountainfest - go to www.flickr.com/jmp859 and click on rock and river... CLIMBS/AREAS
