An Experience, Not Just a Night’s Lodging…

Our unique, year-round lodging is available to all outdoor enthusiasts, not just our guided clients. Consisting of two Adirondack-style lodges, campsites, lean-tos, wide open fields and stunning mountain views, Rock and River’s 1800′s homestead is an experience, not just a night’s lodging.

Situated in a secluded valley at the end of a country road and bordered by park wilderness on three sides, activities such as hiking, skiing, rock climbing and mountain biking are available, all from our doorstep. For skiing enthusiasts, we are fortunate to be located at the start of the Jackrabbit ski trail, a thirty mile path that winds its way through some of the Adirondack’s most striking terrain. And for rock climbers, the always enjoyable Bark Eater cliffs are just a short hike from our lodges.

Various options are available to both individuals and groups (see lodging rates) in our two buildings.

The Climber’s Lodge was built in 1990 from the original homestead’s barn and has three private rooms, a bunkroom (sleeps six), an indoor climbing wall, free wireless internet, a kitchen, as well as a central living room complete with a great stone fireplace. Rental of the Climber’s Lodge also includes exclusive use of our nearby Riverside Leanto and fire pit. This building sleeps twelve and is strictly a group rental facility.
The Guide’s House was built in 1992 with a two room addition (deluxe, family-sized rooms) added in 2001. This building has six rooms, several decks, a large dining room, a TV room, free wireless internet and also houses the gear and classrooms used in our guiding operation. Rooms in the Guide’s House are usually rented out individually with breakfasts included. The building is occasionally rented as a whole (sleeps 15) or in conjunction with the Climber’s Lodge (sleeps 27).

Our breakfasts are hearty buffets of home baked goods, fresh fruits, cereals, etc. and trail lunches are available. Weddings and other special events can be arranged.
